Why SpringBoard?

SpringBoard has a simple mission: to give teachers and districts the exact kind of support they want to bring more life to the classroom—and greater success to students.

beginning of content:

Better for teachers, because it’s developed by teachers

When you enter a SpringBoard classroom you don’t hear a teacher talking in the front of the room. You hear a buzz of excitement, with students working together and taking charge of how they learn. That’s what the teachers who designed SpringBoard wanted for their classrooms, so they created a curriculum and materials that are focused on real classroom needs, encouraging teacher and student involvement.

A living system of learning

SpringBoard emphasizes real-world connections, so students aren't just memorizing how to do things. To stay current, the program is regularly updated based on feedback from the teachers who use it. We're continually refreshing SpringBoard with the best ideas from around the country.

Helping teachers—not telling them how to do it

The program's teacher tools and guidance give teachers the flexibility to apply its many powerful tools in the way that works best for them—and their students. A few examples:

  • Close Reading Workshops and Writing Workshops provide the option to focus on key reading and writing skills.
  • Turnitin Revision Assistant provides automated feedback on student writing, freeing teachers to concentrate on more meaningful tasks.
  • Zinc Learning Labs gives teachers and students access to a huge library of texts for independent reading.
  • Adaptive features in every lesson help teachers tailor instruction for different student needs.

Ongoing professional learning keeps educators energized

SpringBoard is more than just a curriculum—it’s an ongoing, collaborative partnership with teachers, schools, and districts. From day one, your teachers and administrators benefit from hands-on education and support to help them make the most of the program:

  • Workshops and institutes get teachers, coaches, and administrators ready with SpringBoard pedagogy and content that supports effective implementation.
  • Focused workshops develop your participants’ expertise in SpringBoard instructional approaches, standards alignments, assessments, program elements, and options for differentiation.
  • Workshops and symposiums focus on program growth and expansion and tap into your team’s leadership potential.

Aligning to standards—while ensuring college and career readiness

The SpringBoard curriculum is aligned to state standards, and the connections to standards are made clear both to teachers and to students (in student-friendly language), at the beginning of each activity. And because it’s made by the College Board, the program’s instruction and assessments align with the skills, knowledge, and standards that ensure students are career and college ready. This includes being aligned to the SAT® Suite of Assessments: SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and PSAT 8/9.
